A practical course for students dealing with overwhelm, procrastination, stress and pressure.
University is often described as an exciting, independent chapter of life.
And it can be.
But for a lot of students, it also feels mentally heavy.
Like you’re constantly trying to keep up with everything at once — lectures, deadlines, expectations, people, and whatever else is going on outside of uni.
And when that builds up, it can start to feel like:
feeling overwhelmed even when you’re trying your best
putting things off because starting feels harder than it should
constant background stress you can’t fully switch off from
avoiding social situations because they feel draining
questioning whether you’re actually cut out for this
feeling like everyone else is coping better than you
None of this is unusual.
And it’s rarely about ability.
A lot of advice for students focuses on doing more.
Be more disciplined. Be more organised. Try harder. Push through.
But when your mind already feels full, that kind of advice can just add more pressure.
What tends to help more is understanding what’s happening underneath it all.
For example:
why overwhelm builds up over time
why starting tasks can feel so difficult
how stress affects focus, motivation and thinking
how your mental state shapes your behaviour more than you realise
why energy matters just as much as time
how to approach social pressure in a more manageable way
None of this is complicated.
But it’s not always obvious until someone breaks it down in a simple way.
And when it starts to make sense, things often feel easier to handle.
From Struggle to Clarity – Success at University is a free course designed to help you understand and manage the mental side of university life.
It isn’t overloaded with information.
And it isn’t about trying to change who you are.
It’s about helping things feel more manageable.
Inside the course, we cover things like:
understanding and reducing overwhelm
making it easier to start work without forcing yourself
managing procrastination in a more realistic way
balancing university with everything else going on
dealing with stress before it builds too far
handling social pressure in a way that feels more natural
recognising the support that’s already available to you
building clarity you can come back to when things feel busy again
The goal is simple: help you feel more mentally steady during a time that can feel anything but.
I’m Matt.
I’ve spent the last decade supporting university students around stress, overwhelm, confidence, and neurodivergence.
A lot of what’s in this course comes directly from real conversations and lived experiences — not just theory.
I’m also neurodivergent (ADHD), and I’m epileptic, so I understand what it’s like when your mind doesn’t always feel straightforward or predictable.
This course is free because a lot of students who could benefit from this kind of support don’t always know where to find it — or don’t feel like they can access it easily.
So this is simply here as a starting point.
Something practical you can use when things start to feel mentally heavy.
You don’t need to have everything figured out.
And you don’t need to push through it alone.
You can go through the course at your own pace and take whatever feels useful for you.
No pressure. Just something to help things feel a bit clearer and more manageable.
