The side of university people don’t really talk about
When you first think about university, it’s easy to picture the good parts.
Freedom. Independence. Meeting new people. Moving towards your future.
And yeah—that’s all in there.
But there’s another side that doesn’t get talked about as much.
The part where:
assignments don’t just “come in”—they all seem to land at once
you keep telling yourself you’ll start earlier next time… but don’t
your brain doesn’t really switch off, even when you’re meant to be relaxing
social stuff can feel more draining than enjoyable sometimes
and every now and then, there’s that quiet thought: “What if I’m not cut out for this?”
That part can be exhausting.
And a lot of students quietly deal with it on their own.
How it usually builds (without you noticing)
It’s rarely one big thing—it’s small stuff that builds up over time.
One late deadline turns into a couple more.
You tell yourself you’ll catch up next week… but next week’s already full.
Procrastination turns into last-minute panic.
Sleep gets worse. Stress gets louder.
And slowly, your confidence takes a hit.
Not in a dramatic way—just enough that you start doubting yourself more than you used to.
I’ve seen this pattern a lot.
And more importantly, I’ve seen that it’s not a “you” problem.
What things can feel like instead
This isn’t about becoming some perfectly organised, never-stressed student.
But things can feel different.
More like:
waking up with a rough sense of what actually matters that day
finding it a bit easier to start work (instead of avoiding it)
stress still showing up—but not completely taking over
feeling more like yourself in social situations
and actually enjoying parts of university, instead of just getting through it
Not perfect. Just… lighter.
Why I put this together
I’ve created a free ebook called The Inside-Out Pocket Guide.
Not because I think students need more pressure or more strategies thrown at them—but because a lot of what actually helps is surprisingly simple once it clicks.
Inside, I talk through things like:
how to stop putting energy into things you can’t control
why procrastination happens (and how to make starting feel easier)
simple ways to settle your mind when it starts racing
building confidence socially without trying to be someone you’re not
and how to actually use the support that’s already there
It’s not long, and it’s not complicated. It’s just practical.
A bit about me
I’m Matt.
I’ve spent the last few years working with students across UK universities—some struggling with anxiety, some neurodivergent, some just overwhelmed by everything at once.
And a lot of what I share comes from experience, not just theory.
I’m neurodivergent myself (ADHD), and I’m also epileptic—so I understand what it’s like when your brain doesn’t always work the way you want it to.
This isn’t something I’ve just studied. It’s something I’ve had to figure out.
No pressure—just something to explore if you feel like it.Your Next Steps

Any university student who feels stuck, overwhelmed, or stressed. It’s especially helpful if you:
Struggle with procrastination
Feel anxious about deadlines or social situations
Want simple strategies to reset and succeed at uni
Not at all. The tools inside are useful for all students. But if you are neurodivergent (ADHD, autism, dyslexia, anxiety, etc.), you’ll probably find some of the strategies even more relatable.
Less than an hour. It’s short, practical, and designed so you can dip in and out whenever you need it.
It’s all about practical steps. You’ll get clear frameworks and strategies you can apply immediately — not just ideas that sound good on paper.
Because too many bright, capable students fall through the cracks at uni. I don’t want that for you. Normally this would sit inside my coaching program (worth £97+), but for a limited time, I’m making it free.
That’s the difference. This ebook isn’t about generic study hacks — it’s about a new way of approaching uni life that works with your mind, not against it.
No one can guarantee results — but the methods in this ebook have already helped hundreds of students go from chaos and overwhelm to clarity and confidence. Many of them thought nothing would work for them either… until they tried this.
You’ll get instant access to the ebook. You’ll also receive a few extra resources by email to help you put what you learn into practice.
